Women's Council seeks nominees
PLATTEVILLE - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Women's Council is seeking nominations in two categories of awards designed to recognize outstanding women on campus. The council identifies and advocates for university-wide issues that are of particular interest to women on campus and annually recognizes and promotes the accomplishments and contributions of women to UWP and higher education.
Any UWP employee, student or affiliate may nominate any female member of the campus community who has an outstanding record of making a difference by supporting the well-being and interests of females for the UWP Woman of the Year Award. Self nominations are acceptable and will be given equal consideration.
Nominees must provide documentation that they meet one or more of the following criteria: active support of women through administrative, personal, scholarly or communal efforts; demonstrated leadership regarding women's issues at UWP; success in making a difference in any area of life that leads to the empowerment of females; distinguished service at UWP supporting the well-being and interests of females; or exceptional assistance in the form of energy, time, outcomes and other resources - or any combination thereof - to UWP women.
Submissions must be made to Jean Olson, 100 Ottensman Hall, no later than March 9. Supporting materials are due no later than March 30 and must contain a cover letter by the nominee, up to three pages long, describing how she matches the award criteria, as well as an appendix consisting of two letters of recommendation from any member of the UWP community and no more than five pages of additional and ancillary supporting documents.
Forms are available through the provost's office, Alumni Services office, the college deans' offices, Faculty Senate, Academic Staff Senate and Student Senate. Forms can also be accessed at the UWP Women's Council webpage at http://www.uwplatt.edu/committees/wc/forms/index.html
The recipient will be notified no later than May 15 and the award will be presented at the 2007-08 UWP convocation.
