UWP wins publication awards

Amy Kreul, assistant director of publications at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, won a gold award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education for this graphic, which appeared on the cover of the Spring 2006 Alumni Today magazine.

PLATTEVILLE - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville was one of 49 educational institutions honored as part of the 2006 Pride of CASE V Awards Program conducted by the Great Lakes District of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

Amy Kreul, assistant director of publications, won a gold award for Best IIlustration/Graphic which appeared on the cover of the Spring 2006 UWP Alumni Today magazine; Andy McNeill, photographer, won a bronze award for Best Photo Series: Candid, 2005; Kim Schmelz, coordinator of alumni services accepted a bronze award for Most Improved Alumni/Institution Magazine, 3,000 to 9,999 FTE, spanning several editions and years. Contributors to those editions also include Lee Jadaan, assistant director of public relations; Kate McKinney, Evelyn Martens, Rachael Lehr, writers; Kreul, graphic designer; and McNeill, photographer.

Dennis Cooley is the assistant chancellor for University Advancement and oversees the staff that won the awards.

"We are so proud of these award recipients and the continual improvement our entire publications, public relations and photography offices have strived to attain. These awards are significant, but more importantly, they represent a portion of the total team effort that helps the university put forth its very positive messages," said Cooley.

The CASE V awards honored advancement professionals in 43 categories for their alumni relations, fundraising and communication, and marketing efforts. Advancement professionals at institutions outside the Great Lakes District conduct judging for the competition. The CASE V Great Lakes District includes more than 400 member institutions, primarily from Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

The awards were distributed at the Dec. 12 Grand Luncheon at the close of the 2006 CASE District V Conference in Chicago, Ill. District V annually conducts the largest CASE conference in the country, attracting nearly 2,000 advancement professionals from educational institutions throughout the Midwest.
