UWP to hold Engineering Honors Banquet
PLATTEVILLE - On Dec. 6, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville chapter of Tau Beta Pi will be hosting the 15th annual Engineering Honors Banquet. The social event will begin at 6 p.m. in the University North and South Rooms of the Pioneer Student Center, followed by a dinner at 6:30 p.m. The event is held to honor the spring and fall 2006 inductees of the five engineering honors societies at UWP. These societies include Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, Chi Epsilon, Pi Tau Sigma and Alpha Pi Mu. UWP faculty and staff are invited to attend the banquet and the cost is $15 per person.
This evening is designed to celebrate the accomplishments of successful students in the engineering field. Tau Beta Pi honors inductees from the entire engineering profession, whereas the other societies are designed for one particular engineering major. Eta Kappa Nu honors those students majoring in electrical engineering. Chi Epsilon honors student success in civil engineering. Pi Tau Sigma is an honor society for successful mechanical engineering majors, and Alpha Pi Mu is an engineering honor society for those majoring in industrial engineering.
Joanne Wilson, Tau Beta Pi advisor, commented, "I personally enjoy the evening because it is a night where everyone stops what they are doing for a few hours during the hectic time with the semester ending and enjoy some quiet time together."
