Farm Expo offers educational opportunities for community and students
PLATTEVILLE- On Oct. 12-13, students, faulty and community members will have the opportunity to learn about agriculture and have some fun at Farm Expo hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneer Farm and the Belmont AmeriHost Convention Center.
Sponsored by the Shopping News, the event has a variety of activities for visitors of all ages. Glenda Verdick, advertising manager of the Shopping News, said this about the event, "I staged farm shows with Lee Enterprises and Liberty Publications for over 25 years. The farm shows were always well attended and a good opportunity to get seminars and the latest equipment to the farm communities."
At Pioneer Farm, visitors can witness in-field demonstrations and view equipment. Tours of Pioneer Farm will be available and activities such as face painting will be available for children. Some of the agricultural organizations at UW-Platteville will be operating food stands.
A variety of seminars will be held at both locations. Visitors can see new products and services from vendors and exhibitors. There are also non-farm seminars including one on fall gardening.
The Belmont AmeriHost Convention Center will host the career fair where students can talk to representatives from a variety of agricultural companies about job opportunities. Food will be available at the restaurant and bar in the hotel.
Jodi McDermott of the School of Agriculture invites people to, "come and have fun."
Shuttles will transport visitors between the two locations. It is recommended visitors take the shuttle since parking is very limited at Pioneer Farm.
