UW Board of Regents to visit UW-Platteville

PLATTEVILLE - The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents will hold its monthly meeting at the University of Wisconsin Platteville on Oct. 5 and 6. In addition to conducting regular business, the regents will tour the UW-Platteville campus and hear from students, faculty and administrators about a number of special initiatives that are underway at UWP.

The meeting will officially convene at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5 in the University Rooms of the Pioneer Student Center. UWP Chancellor David Markee will open the meeting and introduce a presentation on the university's diversity initiatives. In the afternoon, the regents will convene for their regularly scheduled committee meetings. The Physical Planning and Funding Committee and the Business, Finance and Audit Committee will hold a joint meeting in the Platteville Rooms of the Pioneer Student Center. UWP will make presentations on the campus master plan and on the special challenges associated with private fund raising at a comprehensive institution. The Education Committee will meet separately in the University Rooms of the Pioneer Student Center. UWP will present information about its commitment to serving time and place bound students through distance learning programs.

On Friday, Oct. 6, the regents will meet with UWP student leaders prior to convening their meeting at 9 a.m. In addition to their business agenda the regents will hear a presentation on the role of UWP in the region.
