Student Success Center to hold open houses

PLATTEVILLE - Many departments within The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Student Success Center will hold open houses on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at locales throughout campus, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Using the theme, "Passports to Success" several departments have decided to hold their open houses at the same time in order to allow students, faculty and staff to get a broader view of the many student services provided by UWP. Departments participating in the event are the Advising and Career Exploration Services (ACES) office, 136 Warner Hall; Counseling Services, 220 Royce Hall; Tutoring Services, 133 Warner Hall; the Patricia A. Doyle Women's Center, 151 Doudna Hall; and the Writing Center, 360 Gardner Hall. Each site will offer light refreshments and information about the service it offers. Visitors will get a stamp on their "passports" as they move along to visit the next department and receive a special treat at the final site. The names of everyone who visits all offices will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to the University Bookstore.

Becky Peters, director of the Student Success Center, said she is pleased that so many services will be showcased at the same time.

"We have a broad range of services to offer, and this will be a good opportunity for students and faculty to meet the people who work at these centers and get a better understanding of what each department provides. Our committed staff have a long history of supporting both students and faculty, and I encourage everyone to take some time on the 18th to get to know them," said Peters.

Anyone interested in learning more about the open houses may contact the Student Success Center at (608) 342-1818.
