Wisconsin agriculture secretary to visit UW-Platteville

PLATTEVILLE - Rod Nilsestuen, Wisconsin state secretary of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, will hold a working lands roundtable discussion at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on July 25 at 1:30 p.m. The discussion will be held in the Platteville Rooms of the Pioneer Student Center. This event is free and open to the public.

Nilsestuen will offer background information on the issue of the loss of working land and discuss recommendations being made by citizens who have been working on a consensus vision on managing Wisconsin's land assets.

He will hear from farmers, community leaders, land use planners, students and interested citizens on the issue.

The event is being hosted by the UWP Pioneer Farm and the Grant County - University of Wisconsin Extension.

The Pioneer Student Center is immediately west of the eight-story Pioneer Tower. Attendees may park in Lot 4 or Lot 6 near the intersection of Hickory and Irene Streets at no charge.
