UWP to be well represented during research day at state capitol

UWP biology student, Amanda Lederer, will deliver a keynote address about her stream restoration research during Posters in the Rotunda.

PLATTEVILLE - Sixteen students from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville will present undergraduate research posters at Posters in the Rotunda on Thursday, April 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first balcony of the Wisconsin state capitol rotunda.

The event is designed to showcase undergraduate research taking place within the University of Wisconsin System for state officials. Participating UWP students will personally invite legislators who represent their hometown and the UWP campus to view their research posters.

Along with legislators, the governor, the UW System Board of Regents and university administrators will be in attendance. Over 100 students will represent the UW school they attend at the research poster day.

UWP will be especially honored at the event as UWP biology student Amanda Lederer, originally from Grafton, has been selected to deliver the student keynote address. Lederer's address about the impacts of stream restoration will accompany addresses given by the governor or his representative, the UW vice president for academic affairs, the president of the UW System and the president of the UW System Board of Regents.

Other UWP students showing research posters will include: Benjamin Nemec of Hillsboro, Kevin Neff of Eau Claire, Galen Osby of Howards Grove, Lucas Hendricks of Lyndon Station, Eric Riedeman of Brandon, Cory Stenjem of Cambridge, Brad Innerst of Richland Center, Chelsea Zirbel of DePere, Linda Giorno of Whitewater, Matt Lange of East Troy and Rockford, Ill., Matt Coley of Byron, Ill., Stacy Kelley of Fennimore, Sally Kruchten of Sauk City, Jessica Wipperfurth of Lodi, and Justin Redfearn of Cuba City.
