A 'Taste of Asia' to arrive in Platteville

PLATTEVILLE - At 5 p.m. on March 12, the eighth annual "Taste of Asia" will be held at St. Augustine Church, 135 South Hickory Street in Platteville. A variety of different Asian foods will be offered, including sweet-n-sour pork, chicken with mixed vegetables, mandarin chicken, mixed vegetable stir fry, chicken teriyaki, curry chicken with noodles, chon deep fried beef, steamed rice, and pepper sauce with tomatoes. Drinks will include bubble tea and soybean drink, while the desserts offered will be strawberry cake and sugar doughnuts.

In addition, a group of 18 female dancers from Milwaukee will perform five traditional Asian dances.

"[These] programs have been carefully considered to be quality programs targeting improvement in campus climate and recognition of Asian culture," explains Pusaporn Tabrizi, an advisor at the Multicultural Educational Resource Center (MERC) at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

This event is open to the public and is sponsored by the Asian Students in Action (ASIA) Club. ASIA is geared towards representing and uniting UWP's Asian students on campus, in addition to raising the awareness of Asian culture in the community. While the event is free, any donations given will be sent to the tsunami victims in Asia.
