Dubuque residents speak of an evolving city

PLATTEVILLE - On Feb. 1, Claudette Carter-Thomas and Ruby Sutton will be giving a presentation entitled "Changing Faces of One of Our Neighboring Cities" to University of Wisconsin-Platteville students, faculty, staff, and community members. The speakers, both Dubuque, Iowa, residents, will focus on the nearby city of Dubuque, and the changes that the community has experienced since the mid-1900s.

Carter-Thomas, a probation officer for the First Judicial District of the State of Iowa, has lived in Dubuque for over 25 years, while Sutton has lived there since the late 1950s. In addition to discussing the changes that have occurred in their community, Carter-Thomas and Sutton will also be discussing their own personal experiences living in Dubuque as minorities.

The presentation will be held at noon in Doudna 151/177 on the UWP campus. All are welcome, and admission is free.
