Seiler receives Lifetime Pioneer Award

PLATTEVILLE- University of Wisconsin-Platteville student Gregory Seiler, Chantilly, Va., will receive the fall 2004 Lifetime Pioneer Award. This award will be presented at the commencement luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 11.

Every year the UWP Alumni Association honors graduating seniors who have excelled in academic excellence, campus activities, personal and professional achievements, leadership and community involvement by awarding them a lifetime membership in the alumni association.

Seiler will be receiving his master of science in project management. He is also a distance education major that works hard to balance work, school and his family. By day, Seiler works at MCI managing a department that generates $200 million of annual revenue. By night, Seiler is a father to his 18-month-old son, a student at UWP, and has been a tutor for online students, assisting them with questions in accounting, advanced quality management and project management courses.

Seiler's medical condition also makes his level of commitment exceptional. He suffers from Transverse Myelitis, an auto-immune disease similar to multiple sclerosis. Seiler intends to remain involved in project management and intends to continue his commitment to life-long learning by pursuing a doctorate program next fall.
