UWP mourns loss of Keri Pustina

PLATTEVILLE - Members of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville community were saddened to learn that UWP Facilities Management employee Keri Pustina, age 45, died unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 23 in a vehicular incident in rural Grant County. Memorial services were held Sept. 26 and 27.

Pustina worked as a project manager with UWP Facilities Management, and was intimately involved with several construction projects on campus, including the renovations of Pioneer Tower and Russell Hall and the development of the infrastructure for the Pioneer Horticulture Gardens near Pioneer Greenhouse.

"She was probably one of the best employees I've ever had work for me," said Jim Valaskey, director, UWP Facilities Management. "She was very energetic and made sure projects were completed and done on time. She was a real asset to this campus and she was a good friend too. She will be sadly missed down here."

A resident of Livingston, Pustina enjoyed watching sports and loved growing plants. She is survived by her husband Peter Pustina, Livingston; daughter Kelly (Dave) Vogelsberg, Tennyson; daughter Pamela Pustina, Platteville; daughter Linda Pustina, Platteville; grandson Owen Vogelsberg; parents Lee "Bear" and Bonnie Davis, Livingston; father-in-law and mother-in-law James and Marilyn Pustina, Cobb; sister Kathy (Pat) Nechvatal, Livingston; brother Rick (Laurie) Davis, Belleville; and brother Rod (Betty) Davis, Platteville. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special cousin, Annie Williams, Rewey.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Owen and Hazel Davis and Henry and Zella Wilkinson, her mother Gloria, her sister Joan and her brother James.

Visitation was held Sept. 26 at Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort, with the funeral and burial Sept. 27 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort and Rock Church Cemetery in rural Livingston.
