Workshop offered for creative entrepreneurs

PLATTEVILLE - The Platteville Southwest Small Business Development Center will be offering a workshop on "Developing a Business Plan for Creative People" from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11 at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore. The workshop is designed for creative people who have recently started a new business or want to launch a new business, product or service.

Participants will learn from real life business cases and have an opportunity to apply learning to their own businesses during the workshop. Those in attendance will learn to develop a business plan for creative ventures, determine whether ideas are profitable or sustainable, develop key management roles, identify and build competitive advantages, write marketing plans and develop financial assumptions and projections for sales and cash flow.

The cost of the workshop is flexible based on the total enrollment. The cost is $55 per person if 20-25 total participants register, $64 per person for 11-19 participants, or $99 for 5-10 total registered participants. Pre-registration by Sept. 3 is required. To register, call the Southwest Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at 608-342-1038 to pay by credit card or to request a registration form. Class will be limited to 25 participants.

The workshop is being offered in collaboration with the Arts Build project, which offers assistance to artists, artisans and crafts persons in southwest Wisconsin interested in beginning or expanding their arts related business.
