PLATTEVILLE - University of Wisconsin-Platteville Television Services has won an award of distinction in the 2003 Videographer Awards for a spot promoting the annual Christmas Telethon in support of Wisconsin Badger Camp.
The 2003 Christmas Telethon infomercial, which competed in the student and special event category, was produced to give viewers a sneak peek of the annual event. The telethon has been a tradition at UW-Platteville since 1973, and last year an estimated 350 students from all across campus joined together to raise a record $65,000. The Wisconsin Badger Camp provides unique programming in an outdoor environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
The preview show was produced, edited and shot by UWP sophomore Heather Reese, a communication technologies major. Heather has worked for Television Services for two years and has also produced, shot, and edited promotional videos for the UWP Visitors Center and for Pioneer Passage.
"The experience I have gained working for Television Services has prepared me for my future career in video production, " Reese said.
