Summer smash at UWP
PLATTEVILLE - For students who attend classes in the summer, college life can seem a little boring with few activities going on besides classes. But this summer, students at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville have had the opportunity to take part in activities more accustomed to the regular semester.
Campus Programming and Relations (CPR) has been working towards giving summer students something to do while they wait in between classes. So far, events have included things such as free ice cream and music performed by acoustic artist Dave Tamkin.
Finishing out the summer will be a performance by Catch of the Day in the Pioneer Crossing, located in the Pioneer Student Center on the UWP campus, on Wednesday, July 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Catch of the Day is a ska band from Slinger. They have performed with bands such as I Voted For Kodos, Catch 22, Big D and the Kids Table, Steel Train, Dexter Danger, Mest, and many more. They also have played at Summerfest, Skappleton with the Ska is Dead tour, and at multiple charity shows.
Recently, the band won their fourth Battle of the Bands at The Rave in Milwaukee, and will be performing with Stereo 7 on July 27.
