IBRC receives funding for global project
PLATTEVILLE - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville International Business Resource Center (IBRC) has received $88,000 from the United States Department of Education's business and international education program to continue its global competencies project.
"We are excited about the funding from the U.S. Department of Education because it will enable us to advance the program objectives which include a repeat short study to China, a short study tour to Brazil, faculty development and outreach activities to help K-12 schools," said Louis I. Nzegwu, executive director of the IBRC.
Funds will be used to support global competencies activities initiated in 2003. For example, 10 UWP students traveled to China with IBRC and Department of Business and Accounting personnel during a March study tour, focusing on Chinese business practices and culture.
The IBRC, located in Room 435 of Gardner Hall on the UWP campus, is among few centers of international business housed at U.S. universities and colleges. Established in 2001, the main objective of the center is to help small and mid-sized businesses gain competitiveness in global business. Most of the center's services are offered free of charge.
