Student Senate receives award

2003-2004 student senate president, Alan Halfen, accepts their award at the annual Leadership Awards Ceremony held April 30.

PLATTEVILLE - At the annual Leadership Awards Ceremony, held Friday, April 30, at 7 p.m. in the Center for the Arts, outstanding student leaders and organizations at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville were recognized. One award presented was the UWP Alumni Association Oak Leaf Award for Outstanding Student Governance Group. The university student governance groups include Student Senate, Residence Hall Council (RHC), Segregated University Fee Allocation Commission (SUFAC), Presidents Council, and Student Center Advisory Committee (SCAC), all of whom are eligible for this award.

The 2004 award nominees were Student Senate and SUFAC. The recipient of the award was Student Senate. Senate is known on campus for having exemplary leadership, leading by example, and for making the community and university a better place for students to live and interact while handling complex issues, such as early athletic registration and the stadium maintenance project, in a professional manner.
