Summer basketball camps offered at UWP
PLATTEVILLE- Summer 2004 will mark the 20th year the University of Wisconsin-Platteville has been on Pioneer Basketball Camps. There are five various camps this summer-four individual camps and one team championship weekend. The camps are under the direction of head coach, Paul Combs, and his assistant coaches: Todd Adrian, Mike Huser, Jeff Gard, and Kyle Vogt.
On June 13-16 and then also on June 20-23 UWP will offer Boys Boarding/Commuter Camps for boys in grades fifth through 10th. This camp features a 10 to one camper to coach ratio, the ability to play an entire season in one week, equal playing time for all campers, teaching stations, contests, and individual evaluations. The cost is $235 for a boarding camper and $190 for a commuting camper.
The Girls Boarding/Commuter Camp will run from June 27-30. Girls in grades sixth through 12th will be offered the chance to have a 10 to one camper to coach ratio, individual evaluations, play an entire season in a week, work with UWP women's basketball team members, work on special situations, and learn team concepts. The cost is $235 for a boarding camper and $190 for a commuting camper.
On June 11-12 and again on June 25-26 UWP will offer a Coed Shooting Camp for grades four through 12. Campers will have their shot videotaped and analyzed by Coach Combs and his staff, view demonstrations by outstanding collegiate shooters, learn off-season shooting drills, learn correct practice methods, and learn physical and mental shooting techniques. The cost for this camp is $115 for a boarding camper and $95 for a commuting camper.
The Coed Day Camp is offered July 6-9 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for grades four to seven. The camp features daily lectures with Coach Combs, teaching situations for basic offensive and defensive fundamentals, daily games, contests and much more. The cost to attend is $70.
The Team Championship Weekend, July 18-20 gives teams a chance to play against each other. It features certified high school and college officials, awards for the champions and videos for each team's coach.
