CIF recipients named for 2004-2005
PLATTEVILLE - The purpose of the Curricular Improvement Fund (CIF) at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is to promote curriculum improvement through grants to faculty and academic staff. Every spring dozens of applications are submitted to the Office of Sponsored Programs. Applications are viewed by college deans, the college curriculum committees, the Improvement of Learning Committee, and then finalized through approval by the UWP vice chancellor. Preference is given to projects that will have a university-wide impact, relate to identified university goals, and are interdisciplinary. The 2004-2005 recipients of the CIF allocations include a variety of departments and programs.
Mike Lewis, Barb Burdick, Barry Ellis, Dan Fairchild, Bob Demaree, and Joe Caploe received $3,000 for curriculum modernization and redesign in the Department of Fine Arts and Music.
Geography faculty member Elmo Rawling received $2,200 for the development of physical geography courses at UWP, while fellow faculty member Richard Waugh received $2,000 for the development of an upper division geography curriculum at UWP.
