Paintball Club continues its success

PLATTEVILLE- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Paintball Club is currently the highest ranked in the UW system, and competes nationally.

Any UWP student can join; also any surrounding high school student may become a member as well. The team currently consists of 34 paid members.

Club president Erich Laabs feels that, "We give students who have competed in high school or ever wanted to play the sport a safe organized group to play with. We also help bring national recognition to UWP, because one of the most common questions I'm asked at a tournament is 'Where is Platteville?'"

The club practices two to three times a month and when the weather doesn't allow them to practice outdoors they go to Dedicated Paintball in Madison or Apocalypse Paintball in Poynette. Members will start the outdoor practice season after spring break. They also have regular weekly meetings in Room 144 Ottesman Hall on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m.

The club plays in local and national tournaments, sanctioned through the NCPA. The club, who has been a registered UWP organization since October 2002, won national ranking after only a semester of play. Members will be attending college nationals on April 17 and the club will be hosting a national college tournament at Apocalypse Paintball on March 27.

The Paintball Club also gives members opportunities to socialize through cookouts and non-paintball activities.
