Dean Ford accepts award on behalf of Ag Dept
PLATTEVILLE - As the School of Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville continues to flourish, it also continues to receive acknowledgment for its contributions to the region.
When the Platteville Chamber of Commerce honored College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture Dean Duane Ford with the "Outstanding Award in the Field of Agriculture" in February, Ford dedicated the award to the entire School of Agriculture.
"I would like to thank the Chamber of Commerce for this award, but it is an award I do not deserve and will not accept for myself," Ford said. "I will though gladly accept it on behalf of my current and past colleagues in the School of Agriculture who do so much for students, the community, and agriculture and who it is my privilege to serve."
Ford cited the work of School of Agriculture faculty members, staff and students in areas of academics, extension, research and community service. He also noted their successes in improving the Pioneer Farm, contributing to the Wisconsin Agricultural Stewardship Initiative, organizing the Tri-State Dairy Summit, running the annual bull test, helping obtain Agriculture Technology Zone status for the region and many other activities that benefit the program and the field of agriculture.
