UWP students encouraged to apply for scholarships
PLATTEVILLE-Students at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville will again have the opportunity to apply for scholarships which subsidize the costs that they or their parents may have to pay for the 2004-05 school year. Last year over $400,000 was awarded to 550 students.
General scholarships are available to UWP students but many different scholarships that focus on majors, interests, location and need are offered as well. Practically every college and major on campus has scholarships that are awarded through it from either alumni or current faculty or staff.
The UWP Financial Aid Office will be hosting workshops for students to attend to learn more about UWP Foundation scholarships and the application process. The students will also be given information about other scholarships that are not directly related to the university. The workshops will be held in the Pioneer Student Center Testing Lab, which is off of the Alumni Lounge. The dates are as follows:
- Monday, Feb. 2, 1-3 p.m.
- Tuesday, Feb. 3, 9-11 a.m.
- Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1-3 p.m.
Students currently enrolled have until 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 to have applications completed. All scholarship applications can be filled out online. For more information about scholarships contact the Financial Aid Office located on the second floor of Brigham Hall at 608-342-1836 or visit the website at http://www.uwplatt.edu/finaid to learn more or apply for scholarships.
