Distance Learning Center's anniversary website
PLATTEVILLE - For a quarter of a century, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville has been a pioneer in the field of distance education, meeting the needs of those who are unable to interrupt careers and family lives to attend campus programs.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the UWP Distance Learning Center has launched a special website focusing on its programs.
The website (http://www.uwplatt.edu/disted) highlights the history of the programs; provides demographics on UWP distance learners; profiles successful students and graduates, as well as the faculty who guide them; and recognizes the academic achievements made by UWP distance learners.
UWP currently offers four degrees through its distance education programs: a bachelor of science in business administration, a master of science in criminal justice, a master of engineering, and a master of science in project management.
Undergraduate certificates in leadership and human performance, human resource management, international business and food marketing are also available for those who wish to further their education but who are not currently interested in obtaining a degree. Graduate certificates in project management and engineering and a graduate diploma in criminal justice are tailored for those wishing to upgrade their skills, but who are not seeking an advanced degree. No campus visits are ever required for UWP's distance learning courses.
As UWP remembers its past, the Distance Learning Center looks forward to pioneering new innovations in distance education. The next quarter century promises new challenges and opportunities as education continues to evolve. UWP is committed to forging ahead into this virtual frontier.
