Krista Puttkammer, December 2003 graduate.

PLATTEVILLE - Excelling in academics, athletics and extracurricular activities at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is nothing new for graduating senior, Krista Puttkammer.

Puttkammer, originally from Tomah, will graduate this month with a degree in civil engineering.

Following high school, Puttkammer choose to attend UWP based on its strong engineering program and comfortable size.

"I really liked UWP," Puttkammer said. "The size of the campus made it easy to get involved and get to know professors and faculty, yet offered enough variety on campus to keep a student busy."

When Puttkammer first arrived at UWP in the fall of 1999, she became a member of the first women's golf team at UWP, and remained on the team for the next four years until her eligibility ran out. During this time, Puttkammer received numerous awards for her athletic and scholarly achievements. She was awarded the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Scholar Athlete of the Year award, named WIAC Golf Player of the Week, earned second team all conference recognition and awarded the Patricia A. Doyle Female Scholar of the Year award.

Puttkammer has also shown her academic achievements through her membership in several honor societies. These memberships include two freshman honor societies, Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma, serving one year as treasurer for the latter. Puttkammer has also been a member of the general engineering honor society, Tau Beta Pi, and served as a member and editor of the civil engineering honor society, Chi Epsilon.

During her college career at UWP, Puttkammer has also been a four-year member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and served as president for one year.

Looking back on her college career, Puttkammer commented that overall she has had a good experience getting to meet new people and has found friends and professors helpful and encouraging through college.

Following graduation, Puttkammer has accepted a municipal engineering position with MSA Professional Services in Baraboo.
