Pioneer Biologist Award looking for applicants
PLATTEVILLE-Incoming freshmen or transfer students here at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, majoring in biology, may be eligible for an exciting scholarship award.
The biology department at UWP is taking applications right now for their Pioneer Biologist Award. Applications are due Dec. 12, and the recipient of the award will be chosen during winter break.
The award was founded when the biology department decided that it wanted to use some of the money contributed by the alumni to set up several scholarships to help biology majors and minors finance their education.
This is the premiere year for this scholarship and everyone in the biology department is looking forward to awarding it to a worthy candidate.
The recipient will be chosen based on the quality of their essay. Students are asked to answer the following questions: How will you make a difference through biology? What would you like to do with your biology degree?
Students interested in obtaining an application can go to the Biology Club office in 248 Gardner Hall. If a student is not able to get to the biology office to pick up an application they can contact Amanda Trewin in the biology department by calling 342-1527.
