Rountree Ensemble to wow crowd
PLATTEVILLE-The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Rountree Ensemble will hold a grand performance of the arts at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19. The performance will take place at the UWP Center for the Arts in the Richard and Helen Brodbeck Concert Hall.
The Rountree Ensemble is a resident ensemble group at UWP, which includes performers from UWP faculty as well as recognized professionals from the area.
The group will perform two very fascinating works. The first is a septet "Opus 20" composed by Ludwig Van Beethoven. A piece that John Marco, UWP artistic director and contributing clarinet player of the ensemble calls, "a highly polished, very poised work of great beauty."
The second piece is another septet by the "innovative composer" Franz Berwald. The same seven players who will present their talents on the clarinet, bassoon, French horn, violin, viola, cello and double bass will perform both pieces.
Cost of the concert is $10 for general admission, $5 for senior citizens and UWP students may attend for free. For more information on the concert or where to get tickets call the university box office at (608) 342-1298.
