UWP Pioneer Farm holds festival for community

PLATTEVILLE- There's nothing better than taking a trip out to the farm on a beautiful fall day. This is exactly what the University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Agriculture Student Council thought.

On Saturday, Oct. 25, the Pioneer Farm will be holding Harvest Fest. The activities are set to begin at 1 p.m. and run until 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend this free event. There will be hay rides, a petting zoo, hay maze, shelled corn search, ball toss, face painting, prizes and snacks for the children and the young at heart. Visitors will also be able to receive a tour of Pioneer Farm including the new Agriculture Technology Center which opened only a week ago.

New to the Harvest Fest this year will be a Kiss the Pig contest. The professor or faculty member of the School of Agriculture with the most money in this or her jar at the end of the week will get to kiss the pig. This event will be sponsored the UWP's Sigma Alpha

"It's a fun event and we've always received positive feedback from people who enjoy bringing their kids out to the farm for a few hours," said Alicia Prill-Adams ag student council advisor. " We encourage the entire community...families and whoever would like to attend to come out to the festival."
