Chamber Recital

UW-Platteville is proud to announce the collaboration of three musical talents scheduled to perform at the Chamber Recital Friday, Nov. 7.

Ann Duckow, of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, will perform on violin; Jun Chun, UWP piano faculty member, will perform on piano; and Benjamin Shapira, director of university orchestra, will perform on cello.

"Each musician is contributing to the interpretation of the music," said Shapira, director of university orchestra. "When performing chamber music, three musicians become one in a sense."

The Chamber Recital program will consist of the performance of two pieces: "Dumky Trio, Op. 90" by Antonin Dvorak and "Op. 70," nicknamed "Ghost Trio," composed by Ludwig van Beethoven.

The "Dumky Trio" uses Czech folk music to portray a carriage of three wheels as its travels throughout the piece. The nickname of the second performance, "Ghost Trio," was given because of its depiction of a haunted atmosphere.

The Chamber Recital will be held in the Richard and Helen Brodbeck Concert Hall in the Center for the Arts on Friday, Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
