International Night at UWP to feature exotic foods

PLATTEVILLE-If you have a yen for exotic edibles but can't make it to the Middle East for spicy chicken, you can take in the 38th Annual International Night at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Serving starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, in the Beaux Arts Room of the Ullsvik Center. A social hour at 5:30 in the Harry and Laura Nohr Art Gallery provides an opportunity to meet International Students Club members and peruse the cultural displays and exhibits. Entertainment is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

New this year is an international dessert and coffee station, which will feature delicacies with a global flavor.

Vegetarians and omnivores alike will rejoice over the menu, which includes spicy Korean beef, Rayta (cucumber salad), Easter bread, hummus on warmed pita bread and Greek salad.

The menu will be finalized after an upcoming food tasting by the international students, said UWP graduate student and International Night food chair Remi Sanyo. "I believe the International Night this year will be better than ever," she said. "We all feel pretty good about the foods we are going to offer."

Tickets may be purchased from the Center for Arts Box Office, 608-342-1298. Cost is $16 for adults and students; $12 for senior citizens; $8 for students with meal plan; and $8 for children under 10.
