Tricycle races today as UWP homecoming gets rolling
PLATTEVILLE-An unseasonably warm day - with highs in the 80s expected - might cause some sweat as University of Wisconsin-Platteville students take a turn around the Pioneer Student Center parking lot on tricycles.
The tricycle races start at 3 p.m., and the school spirit is expected to build until the arrival of the homecoming game Saturday against UW-Stout at 2 p.m. in the Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Besides cycling, today is "Star Day," a dress-up day to highlight UWP's homecoming theme, "UWP Goes Hollywood."
Also today, there is a 7 p.m. banner ceremony in the Beaux Arts Room of the Ullsvik Center.
Tuesday's events also include homecoming court voting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pioneer Crossing, and voting again from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Glenview Commons.
A 3 p.m. tug of war at the driving range will pit might and main as contenders struggle for victory.
A 7 p.m. variety show is scheduled in the Center for the Arts Richard and Helen Brodbeck Concert Hall.
Tuesday's dress up day is Oscar Day - anything gold except jewelry.
