Have Skills That Travel!

The skills you have learned to search in article indexesA list of topics referring to a document; can be found in electronic or print formats are helpful for searching in both general and subject indexes.

If you have trouble deciding which index to begin your search, remember that the library has created lists of resources for each discipline, called the Resources by Academic Discipline (RAD) pages. These will give you a good start on your search.

For example, if you need business articles, go to the main RAD page and choose Business & Accounting. This page provides a list of business indexes to start your search.

Once you've learned the basics, it will be like driving a car you've borrowed from a friend. You know that there's a switch to turn on the lights or the radio—you just need to locate the controls. Even though they may look different, article indexes have similar features. Check for help screens or Ask a Librarian.
