Two
Types of Article Indexes
To determine if you need a subject article index ,
consider the following questions:
- Is your topic
in a particular subject area?
- Do you need sources that
are more scholarly?
- Are you going more in-depth
on a topic?
If so, start
with one of the subject article indexes.
Subject Indexes
Subject indexes specialize in a particular subject,
and the articles indexed are generally from scholarly sources. Examples
of subject indexes and the kinds of articles they identify are:
|
|
ABI/Inform Global, a
ProQuest database, indexes articles for almost 3000 business-related journals. Most are available in full text. |
|
|
Applied Science Full Text,
a Wilson Web database, indexes and abstracts for over 400 science and technology journals. Some are available in full text. |
|
|
PyscINFO, an EBSCOhost
database, has abstracts for over 1300 psychology journals. Includes some full text. |
