Using the library catalog

This module covers how to search the Karrmann Library online catalog.

When you have completed this module you should be able to:

  • recognize that the library catalog contains more than books
  • find books on a topic using Advanced Search
  • find books by Author, Exact Title, or LC Subject Headings
  • find periodicals Periodicals are publications issued at least twice a year, including journals, magazines, and newspapers by using a Journal/Magazine/Newspaper Title search
  • identify the location of books or journals
  • read a call number A combination used to identify a location for a particular item and use it to find items in the library
  • find an item placed on reserve using a Course Reserve search
