The two types of databasesA way of electronically organizing information that you will be using are: library catalog and journal indexesA list of topics referring to a document; can be found in electronic or print formats.

Library catalogs

Karrmann Library Catalog

organize all of the materials a library purchases. These include records for books, magazines, journals, newspapers, videos, sound recordings, images, etc.

The Karrmann Library online catalog does not include articles.
   
Article indexes are used to identify articles on a topic.

Academic Search Elite

 Some journal indexes such as Academic Search Elite are general or multidisciplinary.
ABI Inform Many indexes specialize in a particular subject area, such as biology, education, or business.
