Potosi Brewery and Shakespeare Festival on Display

Top

The library offers displays throughout the year to promote events and information of interest to the UW-P community. New exhibits in the SW Wisconsin Room's display cases on the lower level of the library now feature the Shakespeare Festival and the Potosi Brewing Company. Come and see stage props used by the Shakespeare Festival which was held at UW-P for 23 summers, 1977 to 1999. Also featured is the Potosi Brewing Company, which operated from 1852 to 1972. Displayed in this case are historic photos and an original ledger with labels of the company's Special Holiday Beer. Take advantage of the opportunity to create a display in the library. Platteville Remembers the Civil War, 1861

September 3rd through the 22nd the Harry & Laura Nohr Gallery is hosting an exhibit about life in Platteville at the beginning of the Civil War. The centerpiece of the exhibit is the original national flag made by the ladies of Platteville and carried by Platteville's own Company F, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry. Also featured in this exhibit are artifacts, photographs, documents and maps from UW-P's SW Wisconsin Room and the Rollo Jamison Museum.

Library to Phase Out Film Collection

In order to better serve the UW-Platteville community, the library staff are phasing out the old film collection.

Any instructor who planned to use a film in the classroom is encouraged to contact his or her division librarian. Together, they can determine appropriate replacement materials or make arrangements to convert a film to another supported format.

Help in the Bears Den

People using the computer lab, the Bears Den in the new Student Center, now have access to the services of a reference librarian!
