Between the Lions
This web page is designed to help teachers and parents teach kids to read. The stories, songs, and interactive games and activities are just a few ways to help students learn to read. "The `Between the Lions' program and web site have just been endorsed by the National Education Association (NEA), the largest teachers organization in the U.S. This is the first time in over ten years that they have endorsed an ongoing television program."

Children's Book Council Online
This site offers information about certain children's literature and titles of books to use in the classroom. It gives suggestions on what books to use in different content areas, as well as books that are hot off the presses.

Includes links to several different lesson plan sites and sites with ideas to use with children's books. A graphic points out a resource that is particularly valuable.
Children's Literature Web Guide
A Web site of Internet resources related to books for children and young adults. Gives links to book awards, children's bestsellers, recommended lists, and author sites. The links to Resources for Teachers and Resources for Parents deserve your attention. This is an award winning site.
Cooperative Children's Book Center
The CCBC of the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin - Madison is a noncirculating examination center and research library for adults with interest in children's and young adult literture. This site also provides links to its publictions, which includes the link to Annual Book Awards and Distinctions List, upcoming events, and directions for subscribing to its listserv, CCBC_Net.
Education Place - Houghton Mifflin - Reading/Language Arts
A great site for teachers and students to learn about authors or talk about current educational topics in Education Place Discussion Forums. This site is also a resource for Middle Level Literature, which is broken into three literature areas - Blue, Green, and Purple.

A great site to learn about the different aspects of mythology and folklore.

NCTE Homepage
The NCTE gives information about joining their organization, the "English Language Arts Standards," and teachng ideas concerning English.
