Important information for distance education students and students accessing the library from their home.

Remote access to online library resources is provided to active University of Wisconsin-Platteville students, faculty and staff who do not have a direct connection to the campus network through a dedicated line or modem. See OIT's Support by Topic.

A complete list of web-based resources is available on our Electronic Resources by Title web page. Some resources have unrestricted access and some, since we pay a subscription for them, are restricted to UWP users. When you try to link to a database, you will automatically be prompted to log into the Proxy Server before you can access the electronic databases.See Exception. You will only have to log in once, unless you go over the 120 minute time out setting. An example of the login screen is shown below.

Exception: MultiSearch is an exception where you will need to log in before searching. Once you are connected to MultiSearch, click on the "Log In" link in the upper right hand corner.

NOTE:

The proxy server requires that cookies are enabled on your browser.

If you use Internet Explorer go to Tools from the menu; select Internet Options; click on the Security tab; click on the Custom Level and check enable under cookies. The steps may vary in older versions.

If you use Netscape go to Edit from the menu; select Preferences; click on Advanced and check appropriate dial. The steps may vary in older versions.
