GENERAL INFORMATION
All applications are examined by the Department Supervisor who has a vacancy.
An interview is arranged with the student whose qualifications best meet the
needs of the department. Applications which are not accepted are kept on file
for reconsideration when new openings occur.
Students taking six credits or more per semester may work on student employment
during the academic year. A student who drops below six credits must terminate
all jobs on the student employment payroll. A student who attends the fall
semester, but is not returning the following spring semester must terminate
student employment the last day of the fall semester.
Students must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible to work on
campus during the summer months: (1) Enrolled in the spring and returning in
the fall, OR not enrolled in the spring, but accepted for the fall semester.
NOTE: Summer school classes are not necessary for regular or work-study
employment. (2) Enrolled in the spring, graduating in August--may work on
campus from the end of the spring semester throught the last week of the summer
session (includes work-study if eligible). (3) Enrolled in the spring, not
returning in the fall, if registered and paid for at least three credits, may
work on regular student employment from the end of the spring semester throught
the last week of the summer session. (4) Not enrolled in the spring and not
attending in the fall, but attending the summer session--if the student has
registered and paid for three credits, he/she may work from the end of the
spring semester through the last week of the summer session. (5) If a student
has decided not to return to UW-Platteville for the fall semester, the student
must terminate his/her summer employment on the student payroll.
Once a student has been dismissed, graduated or for any reason in note
returning to UW-Platteville for the following regular session, he/she is no
longer considered a UW-Platteville student and, therefore, is not eligible for
student employment.
Students are expected to work the designated schedule of hours each week. If
the student cannot for any reason work when scheduled, it is the student's
responsibility to notify his/her supervisor in a timely manner. Students, even
those employed at more than one job, may not work more than a total of 40 hours
per week on Student Employment. UW-Platteville recommends that a student does
not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year.
