2014 Distinguished Lecturer
Wednesday, April 2 from 10 a.m. - Noon, Jennifer Thompson and Ronald Cotton will be discussing their book "Picking Cotton." Jennifer Thompson was a 22-year old college student whose life was dramatically altered when a man broke into her apartment, put a knife to her throat and raped her. After a sketch was made, a line-up identification, and a trial, testimony and memory led to a life sentence for Ronald Cotton. Years later DNA was tested to find that the rapist DNA did not match Ronald Cotton. After the wrong prosecution Thompson reached out to Cotton with an apology which led to an unlikely friendship and a best selling book "Picking Cotton."
