EMPLOYEES: HRS outage to affect BI February 22-27

The HRS outage that begins at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 22 and continues until Monday, Feb. 27 will affect other campus systems, including Business Intelligence. HRS data are key to some BI integrations. This UW System outage will result in:

  • Inability to update or refresh employee information which will lead to "stale" reports until data is refreshed
  • Error messages when entering information
  • New employees (during this time period) not appearing in resources like the phone directory and Passport Office

Since HRS data will be refreshed the night of February 27, the most up-to-date data will be available starting the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 28.

UW-Platteville's reporting tool, Business Intelligence, allows users to transform raw data into useful information to help make better business decisions and simplify reporting. Reports are generated by using dashboards, drop down menus, charts, graphs, and tables. Once generated, reports can be easily exported to Excel, PDF, or HTML.

requirements for access

  • Level 1 Consumer training is required in order to obtain access to BI.  This will allow users to run reports from existing queries.
  • Level 2 Author training is offered for those who want to write queries (Level 1 is a prerequisite for this course).
  • Check the ITS Training Calendar for upcoming training opportunities.
  • Prior to training, please complete and submit the BI Access Request Form.
  • Already taken training? Need a refresher? Please check the "Refresher" box on the online registration form.
