Upcoming ITS web changes
The revised and enhanced ITS website will launch within the next few weeks signaling an end to the Academic Tools page. Currently, the Academic Tools page is home to login buttons for PASS and Desire2Learn as well as links to such diverse resources as NetStorage, Online Class Schedule, Password Management, and WISC Software Purchases. The page appears cluttered and haphazard.
In the new site, PASS and Online Storage (formerly NetStorage) will have their own landing pages containing a login button, system-specific information and resources, and (when necessary) outage messages. The Desire2Learn landing page debuted in August; the new landing pages will follow a similar format.
So how will I find these resources in the new ITS website?
Start with the Shortcut menu.
Campus-wide systems such as Desire2Learn and PASS are always accessible from the Shortcuts menu in the upper right corner of all new webpages on the UW-Platteville site. The Online Class Schedule will be available from the PASS landing page.
Visit the Help Desk Home page.
Quick Links will provide quick access to Password Management and Online Storage (formerly NetStorage) in addition to resources like print balance check and ITS request forms. Information on software purchasing is located on the Help Desk navigation bar under Software.
Use the ITS navigation bar.
Most of the resources on the Academic Tools page will be found in the ITS menus:
- For Online Storage (formerly NetStorage) and Password Management, go to Get Connected
- For PASS and Desire2Learn, go to Applications
Reset your bookmarks.
After the new ITS site launches, remember to change your bookmarks to access the new pages. For applications like PASS and Online Storage, be sure to bookmark each system’s landing page rather than its login page. When necessary, the landing page may host important outage information or other time-sensitive messages.
What if I forget all of this before the ITS site launches?
Information regarding these changes will be posted in the Latest News on the Help Desk Home page as the launch approaches. Quick Reference sheets will be available for those who like notes. The website Search function is quite robust in a pinch. And as always, if you can’t find something, contact the ITS Help Desk. Our staff are ready to help you!
