Meet Russell Hill
Ask Russell Hill, production manager for Media Technology Services, why he likes working at UW-Platteville, and the answer comes quickly, “I get to help students reach their dreams.” He continues, “I love it when I see the light come on and [the students] finally get it. I love to see them move into the field they love and work in the field they studied here at Platteville.”
Russell understands this dream because his own path has taken him from his Broadcast Communication studies, working at our own radio station WSUP in the early 90s to TV stations and production houses across the country and back to the 8th floor of Pioneer Tower, where he has been since 2002. Earlier this year, Russell furthered his dream by adding a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing to his résumé.
Russell’s primary job in MTS is producing promotional and instructional videos for University departments and organizations both on campus and off. Russell’s award-winning repertoire includes national recognition from the Boys Scouts of America and the Lions Club for a video titled Diabetes: Caring with Confidence, which started as a local project for Southwest Health Center and is now available internationally.
Russell enjoys sharing what he knows with student employees and staff alike, and he appreciates getting “the chance to do what I love to do and work with professionals who push me to create a better product for our clients.”
In his down-time, you might find Russell playing the video game, Most Wanted or watching an episode of Finding Bigfoot with wife Kari, the Assistant Director of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.
