Meet Ken Wiegman
Ken Wiegman likes “challenging work that’s changing all the time.” He’s in the right place. In his 15 years on campus, there was bound to be some amount of change, but no one can argue that ITS has not seen its share this past year, particularly in Support Services. In the past three months alone, Ken (like all of the Support staff) has taken on new duties in the new roles of Software Asset Manager for campus and Support Liaison for the departments of Mathematics and Computer Science & Software Engineering. He recently moved from an office in Ullrich to new digs in the basement of Gardner with the rest of the hardware and software team. Every change brings new challenges and an “opportunity…to expand my working knowledge.”
In addition to overseeing campus software licensing and contract management, Ken is our Apple authorized purchasing agent and also assists with Virtual Desktop Management and JAMF Management (iOS and Mac OS). Outside of ITS Ken teaches part-time for the Criminal Justice Department. He serves as both the secretary/treasurer of the Classified Staff Senate and the secretary of the Liberal Arts and Education Alumni Chapter.
The challenges of Ken’s work are balanced by non-tech interests such as music (“too many favorites to list”) and, when the weather’s right, hitting the road on his motorcycle. Most importantly, however, Ken enjoys spending time with family. Any Thursday, you may find him with his wife and brood at the local Country Kitchen (“Children eat free!”). Of course, life with children is constantly changing as well. While Ken is meeting the challenges at work, this devoted family man is also preparing for a different kind of change at home: baby #6 is due in August! Fortunately, “Dad” is a role Ken is quite comfortable with.
