ITS prepares for new term, upcoming changes
Information Technology Services spent the winter break preparing for the new term and exciting changes ahead. We welcomed Josh Savoy, the ResNet staff, and Ryan Cady to the ITS family effective January 2. ITS and ICET co-sponsored a very successful Technology Mashup professional development series for faculty and staff. Media Technology Services finished much-anticipated learning spaces in Doudna and Ottensman. Campus Information & Analysis trained nine more BI authors. Apps & Development continued work on additions and enhancements to the New Student Registration system, while Systems & Infrastructure began finalizing back-end preparations for a new student room registration and management system for Residence Life.
The news of the day, however, belongs to Support Services. After more than a year of planning, the new service model went into practice on January 2. There are new roles, new responsibilities, new hours, and even a new home. Changes such as these are complex. Full implementation needs to happen gradually over the next few months. Undoubtedly complications will arise, and mistakes will be made along the way. We thank you in advance for your patience and support as we transfer responsibilities and locations. We promise to do our best to alleviate confusion during this transition by keeping you informed of our progress via e-mail, the Help Desk Home page, and of course, through Discover IT.
If you should have questions regarding any of these changes, please feel free to contact Sue Traxler, CIO (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Tonya Stappert, Director of IT Support Services (email@example.com).
