ITS Help Desk is moving March 17
The ITS Help Desk begins its long-awaited move to the new IT Support Services space on first floor Karrmann on March 17. The new location will be open for business on Tuesday, March 18. This move marks yet another major milestone in the TSS Project started over a year ago.
In addition to serving as the first point of contact for tech support at UW-Platteville, the Help Desk in Karrmann will manage student laptop checkout, which was previously handled at the lab consultant’s desk in the Bears Den. Customers may continue to contact the ITS Help Desk by calling 608.342.1400 or e-mailing email@example.com.
The new IT Support Services space contains offices for most of its professional staff and the director as well as student desks, ResNet workspace, and a conference room featuring table and chairs for 12 and a 70-inch monitor with laptop hookup. The conference room has two doors, enabling staff to secure the IT Support Services offices and the Help Desk on the back side while allowing students to use the space after hours through the front entrance. The conference room will be available to students on a first come, first served basis whenever the Help Desk is closed.
IT Support Services personnel have been moving into Karrmann from various places on campus gradually since January. Hardware and software asset managers and the software specialist will remain in the basement of Gardner Hall for the time being. The ITS Help Desk will maintain the ResNet satellite office in Royce Hall for students’ convenience.
