ARRIVAL – Monday, August 29, 2016

UW-Platteville will provide bus transportation for the 3-hour trip from Chicago O’Hare airport to Platteville, Wisconsin on the day before orientation.  To use this transportation, you need to arrive at Chicago O’Hare airport by 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016. The bus will stop only at the International Terminal (#5) at O’Hare airport. UW-Platteville staff will meet you in the arrival hall (lower level just outside of baggage claim) of the International Terminal (#5) near the McDonalds around 12:30 p.m.; we will be carrying a “Welcome to UW-Platteville” sign. You must complete the flight itinerary questionnaire on your ISSS Online Account by July 15.

If you cannot arrange a flight that arrives at O’Hare Airport in Chicago before 11 a.m. on Monday, August 29, you should plan on arriving in Chicago on Sunday, August 30, stay overnight in a hotel in Chicago, and meet us at the airport in Terminal #5 on Monday, August 29, at 12:30 p.m. Please click here for a list of hotels near O’Hare Airport.

Students who will be utilizing UW-Platteville's bus from Chicago to Platteville are required to complete the Travel Arrangements Questionnaire and provide a copy of your travel itinerary on your ISSS Online Account by July 15.

If you miss the August 29 bus to Platteville, you will be responsible for arranging alternative transportation to UW-Platteville. We will send more information about this to you through email.

If you will not be taking the bus with us from O’Hare in Chicago on August 29, you need to make plans to arrive in Platteville, Wisconsin, by Monday, August 29. If you have signed up to live on campus in the residence halls, you will need to email reslife@uwplatt.edu to arrange a time to move in to the residence halls.

You may arrive in the United States up to 30 days before the start date on your I-20. For most of you, the start date on your I-20 is August 29, 2016. See below for instructions in planning your arrival:
 

Fall 2016 INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION

All new international students are required to attend International Student Orientation from August 30-September 2,2016. Orientation is a fun, informative program designed to prepare you for success during your time at UW-Platteville.  At International Student Orientation, you will have the opportunity to obtain your Student ID card, get your UW-Platteville e-mail address and password, sign up for your meal plan, take the English and Math placement tests (F-1 degree-seeking undergraduate students only), meet with your academic advisor, buy your textbooks, learn about the various aspects of the University of Platteville campus and resources, adjust to the U.S. culture and language, meet current students, and much more.

The total non-refundable deposit for arrival/orientation, including lodging and food costs, is $300. This deposit will be charged to your UW-Platteville student account.

If you are living in the Residence Halls, an International Student Orientation leader will meet you outside the main entrance of your residence hall on the first day of orientation. If you will be living off campus, you will need to meet us for the first day of International Student Orientation.
