The Department of Industrial Studies at the University of Wisconsin Platteville prepares students for responsible participation in industry in the areas of Manufacturing Technology Management, Building Construction Management, and Occupational Safety Management. As part of the curriculum, each student is required to complete an industrial internship, which is administered by the Department of Industrial Studies.

Purpose Of Internship

An industrial internship formally integrates the student's academic study with work experience in a cooperating employer organization. The experience is considered an integral part of the student's education, and they are awarded college credit for successful participation in the program. This melding of theory and practice is both a deliberate and significant career related experience. The student, the employer, and the faculty supervisor work as a team in making sure the internship has optimal learning value. The student may enroll for the internship when they are in junior standing and have approval from their academic advisor.
