Autonomous Robot
Competition

To register go to Tech Challenge Registration knoxc@uwplatt.edu

Eligibility:
Robot characteristics:
The Competition (subject to changes until March 31, 2008):
The competition will involve two different events:
  1. The team or entrant will be given a list of movements that the robot will be programmed to perform.
Teams will be given 30 minutes to write the program and download it to the robot.
Scores will be based on the accuracy of the movements and the time taken to complete the series of movements.

Example: Program your robot to go forward 3 feet, make a 45º left turn, go forward 1.5 feet,
make a 90º left turn, go forward 2 feet, then travel in an 8 foot diameter semicircle, and stop.
A semicircle or full circle with the diameter specified ( D > 2 ft.) would be the only non-linear specifications used.
  2. The robot will be placed at the beginning point of a black, non-reflective maze on a white surface.
The robot must follow the maze to its end. There may be “dead-end” branches in the maze that the
robot must detect, and the robot must get back on the correct path in the correct direction.
Scores will be based on the robot’s ability to stay on the maze path, and the time to complete the maze.
The maze path will consist of linear stretches and curved stretches.
Any curved portion will have a minimum radius of 5 inches.
No intersection or turn will be sharper than 100º

    Example:

All participants must complete, sign, have parents sign "Hold-Harmless
forms and submit prior to participating in Technology Challenge 2008.
Participants must bring/wear safety glasses during competition.
