There is a need for more technicians to observe QV sampling due to the increase in frequency of the QV testing requirement.
The QV observer needs to have an HTCP certification in HMA or the add-on of Hot Mix Asphalt-Truck Box Sampling, HMA-TBS, to augment their certification in Aggregate Sampling, AGGTEC-I, AGGTEC-II and/or ATTS.
There will be a 3 year transition period to catch all the technicians (thru recertification) that currently have these Aggregate certifications.
In the interim, any of these aggregate technicians can update their certifications to include HMA-TBS, by taking this on-line training, which include the instructions, the self-paced study materials, and the exam.
Anyone who attends an instructor-led certification class in Transportation Materials Sampling, TMS, (Formerly Aggregate Sampling), AGGTEC-I, AGGTEC-II and/or ATTS will be certified for HMA-TBS.
For those individuals with no certifications, the most efficient way to attain the HMA-TBS component of sampling is to enroll in and attend the HTCP Aggregate Sampling Class.
