Students and parents
UW-Platteville students are eligible to purchase software from the WISC Software Catalog at greatly reduced prices. Titles range from Microsoft Office to AutoDesk to Adobe Creative Cloud and more. All sales are handled by the student directly through the WISC Software Store.
ITS strongly recommends installing and/or updating anti-virus software on your devices. In fact, it is required if you plan to connect to the campus network.
ITS does not provide a computer buying or leasing program at this time. All computers are to be purchased through a computer vendor.
Choosing a computer involves many factors such as personal preference, budget, and needs. ITS cannot recommend one particular product over another. We do, however, provide useful links to help you in your decision-making.
Many manufacturers offer discounts to students. You are free to choose any brand you wish. ITS ResNet will support any and all models that meet the minimum configurations for a computer system at UW-Platteville.
If you have questions while you are purchashing a computer, please contact the ITS Help Desk by any method at the right; we will be happy to help you through your computer purchase.
ResNet is a satellite office of the ITS Help Desk that serves students living in the residence halls. ResNet supports basic connectivity in the halls and provides limited fee-based assistance with software and hardware on student-owned computers. ResNet is conveniently located in 122 Royce Hall.
To request assistance or report a problem, students may also contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
